HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Prep work has begun on the 26-acre site of a new natural gas-fueled Holland BPW power plant near Holland’s Eastern Gateway. Orders for closing off 6th Street and Fairbanks Avenue in the vicinity began to be executed yesterday, and crews will start clearing the area following the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Utility officials say that a number of existing pole buildings and sheds deemed surplus to requirements will be auctioned off, while Jubilee Ministries will be renovating furnaces, hot water heaters, vanities, cabinets and solid wood doors for use elsewhere along the Lakeshore. The 114-megawatt, 190 million-dollar facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2016.
