HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - It will cost nearly a million dollars to keep Jenifer French away from Holland City Hall.
City Council last night approved a settlement that gives her back pay, fringe benefits, interest and other payments. She was sacked eight years ago on tax fraud allegations and a residency conflict, but that decision was overturned and eventually upheld by the state Supreme Court. The city’s insurance carrier will pay the bulk of the settlement, with the remaining money coming out of the general fund.
She had been fighting to get her job back, but will end those efforts as part of this agreement. City Council members refused further comment on the matter following the vote.
