UNDATED (WHTC) - There’s been a rash of evacuations along the Lakeshore this week, with two of them occurring blocks away nearly 24 hours apart in Dorr.
Authorities haven’t said much about the incidents in northeast Allegan County, as an elementary school and the township hall had to be cleared around the Noon hour on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. There are reports that a man taken into custody for questioning may have been involved, as a suspicious package was left outside of the school, the “stranger” was telling people that something bad was going to happen, making vague references to children, and he copied something at the township library that he refused to let anyone read. No charges have yet been filed.
Meanwhile, students and staff conducted an “orderly” departure from Baseline Middle School in South Haven just before 12 Noon yesterday after a written bomb threat was received by school officials. State troopers, sheriff’s deputies and city officers spent around four hours searching, but found no explosives. Investigators are looking at audio and video to determine if any traces of a suspect could be found.
