LANSING (WKZO) -- A Portland, Michigan man is guilty of 26-counts of racketeering, embezzlement and forging death certificates.
Marti Schrauben embezzled nearly half-a-million dollars from customers and insurance companies who did business with Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes in Ionia from 2008 through 2010. To date, the funeral homes have honored more than 300-thousand dollars in pre-paid funerals and paid 50-thousand in restitution.
Attorney General Bill Schuette is seeking additional restitution from Schrauben. That will be determined at his sentencing.
