DETROIT (WKZO) -- Detroit Police Chief James Craig is not backing away from a magazine cover story about his support for citizens legally carrying concealed guns.
Craig has repeatedly spoken out in support of self-defense for homeowners confronted with the possible loss of life, resulting in the profile by the National Rifle Association publication "America's First Freedom." The chief held a news conference Monday, saying his stance doesn't mean the department can't successfully fight crime.
Craig demurred on whether his vocal backing of the Second Amendment would result in vigilantism. Police report two more cases of justifiable homicides in Detroit this year compared to the same time in 2013.
