ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) -- The city of Zeeland has construction going on right in the middle of downtown. Work has begun on the new Splash Pad but the city still needs to raise a bit more than $60-thousand to fully pay for the project. City Marketing Director Abby deRoo has a few ideas on the subject. One strategy is to ask people to make a pledge for next year that they can take as a tax deduction. She also encourages people to buy bricks for the Splash Pad, maybe with their family name on it or in memory of a loved one. The bricks will be placed at the entrance of the Splash Pad. deRoo says she is confident that they will raise the rest of the funding needed. The Splash Pad is expected to open sometime in August.
