SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) - A veteran of state government in Nebraska is getting back into public service along the Lakeshore.
Chris Peterson may have though her government days were over when she moved to a home in the Saugatuck area. She had been a Nebraska state Senator and as CEO for that state's Department of Health and Human Services in a career that she said was devoted to public service. When Wendy Wise-Fisher abruptly quit as a Saugatuck City Councilwoman in March, four months into a two-year term, Peterson and two others submitted applications to fill the vacancy, and was appointed last month by the other council members to complete Wise-Fisher's term.
Peterson will be sworn in during tonight's council meeting.
