YPSILANTI (WKZO) -- The Yankee Air Museum met Thursday's deadline to raise enough money to save a major portion of the World War Two-era Willow Run bomber plant.
With nearly eight-million dollars in hand, museum officials say that a purchase agreement is being drafted for the 150-thousand square foot facility. Museum founder Dennis Norton says more than 86-hundred B-24 bombers rolled through the doors he's been trying to save.
In the Detroit Free Press Norton is quoted saying, "About half the workforce at the end of the war were women, Rosie the Riveters. That's a fascinating story just in and of itself."
