ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - There were some anxious moments for a Zeeland-area family over the weekend.
Crews from Zeeland and Holland Township responded to a house fire just north of the city limits around 11:40 on Saturday morning. Witnesses told Ottawa County Central Dispatch that flames could be seen shooting from an upstairs bedroom at the residence in the 29 hundred block of 96th Avenue, north of Roosevelt Street. A family of four was able to escape with their two dogs, although one person had to be treated for smoke inhalation, and no firefighters were hurt. While the Red Cross addressed the needs of the family, investigators were searching for a cause of the fire, and didn’t immediately place a dollar estimate on the damage caused by the blaze.
