GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - After two days of jury selection and 11 days of oral arguments and testimony from nearly 60 witnesses, including the accused, the double-murder trial of Ryan Wyngarden is scheduled to go to the jury today. The 52-year-old Zeeland man is accused of shooting his sister Gail Brink and her husband Rick at their Park Township home in 1987. Prosecutors say that a jealous Wyngarden committed the crime to hide an incestuous relationship, and intimated his wife into supporting his alibi for 25 years. The defense counters that the couple may have been mistaken for a previous homeowner in a criminal hit, and attempted to discredit the testimony of the prosecution’s top witness, Wyngarden’s wife Pam.
