GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) -- The trial of a man charged with the murder of his sister and brother-in-law continued today with Ryan Wyngarden taking the stand this afternoon in his own defense. The defense attorneys say that the murders happened due to mistaken identity and that the killer or killers intended to kill Sid Colby, a former occupant of the home because of his connections to drug dealers in Detroit. The murdered couple, Gail and Rick Brink, were found at their Park Township home on November 23rd, 1987. Ryan Wyngarden is expected to be on the stand when the trial resumes on Wednesday morning. He’s charged with two counts of premeditated murder and faces life in prison if convicted.
