DETROIT (WKZO) -- A 22-year-old Dearborn man is in custody, accused of trying to join a terrorist organization in the Middle East. Monday,
Mohammad Hamdan appeared in federal court and was ordered held pending a detention hearing next week. He is accused of trying to provide aid to Hezbollah which has been designated a terrorist organization by the government.
According to officials, Hamden was attempting to travel from Detroit to Lebanon where Hezbollah is based so he could go to Syria and fight on behalf of Hezbollah in Syria's civil war. He was detained at Detroit Metro Airport on Sunday before boarding his flight.
