UNDATED (WHTC) -- If you love real Michigan maple syrup you’ll want to head to Van Raalte Farms on two consecutive weekends, this one and next. Maple Sugar Time needs thaws and freezes to get the sap flowing so the recent weather should make for a good harvest. You can take part in tapping a tree, gathering sap and then visit the sugar house to see the nature center’s evaporator steaming away down in the sugar bush. Director Rob Venner says there will be other treats in the barn to enjoy, including ice cream, floats, sodas, candy and maple sugar for sale. The fee is $3 per person and no registration is necessary.
