UNDATED (WHTC) -- The Detroit Tigers Drew Smyly had a great outing on Saturday, starting the game and pitching three scoreless innings but that wasn’t enough for the win, with the Mets topping the Tigers 3-2. Base stealing has been fairly easy for the Tigers, with Don Kelly and Daniel Fields getting the team’s third double steal in eight days. Spring training continues this afternoon with the Tigers taking on the Marlins. Game coverage on 1450 WHTC and WHTC.com begins at 1 P.M.
The Cubs cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Reds on Saturday. Nate Schierholtz had two hits, including a home run, and Emilio Bonifacio added two RBIs on the way to the win. The Cubs face Milwaukee this afternoon.
White Sox’ pitcher Jose Quintana was slightly injured on Saturday when a line drive bounced off his lower left leg. He exited the game after allowing two singles and the Sox went on to lose to the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4. The White Sox face Oakland later this afternoon.
The Red Wings are in New York City today trying to keep their playoff hopes alive to take on the Rangers at Madison Garden. The Wings are coming off a win on Friday scoring a season high 7-4 win against the New Jersey Devils at Joe Louis Arena.
The Chicago Blackhawks are in Buffalo to take on the Sabres this evening.
The Grand Rapids Griffins were on a 7-game win streak in front of a sellout crowd but were stopped by the Iowa Wild, 3-1. The Griffins embark on a season-high seven-game road trip that begins with a visit to San Antonio on Thursday.
