UNDATED (WHTC) -- An early afternoon accident on U.S. 31 @ Comstock Street sent 54-year-old Ellen Eddleman to the hospital in critical condition. Sergeant John Wolfis of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says Eddleman’s vehicle was in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31 and was stopped in the left turn lane. Witnesses say she made the left turn directly into the path of 28-year-old Kyle Locklear, who was traveling in the northbound lanes of U.S. 31. The vehicles crashed into each other, partially blocking those lanes. Eddleman was ejected from her vehicle and she was not wearing a seatbelt. She was taken by ambulance to North Ottawa Hospital and than airlifted to Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids. Locklear received minor injuries and sought his own treatment. The crash remains under investigation and alcohol or speed do not appear to be factorsd in the crash.
