COVERT, MI (WHTC) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is monitoring a situation that arose at the Palisades plant near Covert in January when a piece of metal from a broken impeller blade was discovered lodged in the reactor vessel. Workers noticed the situation during a scheduled refueling and maintenance shutdown, and efforts to remove the object have been unsuccessful. Entergy officials claim that the metal is posing no safety risk.
