HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Lakeshore gas stations may not wait until next weekend before putting the four up in the dollar column on their marquees.
Thanks to a 20-cent-per-gallon spike on Wednesday, motorists in the Holland area were paying, on average, $3.93 per gallon for fuel this morning, based on the weekly survey of local retailers. This is 15 cents higher than last Friday, and 45 cents more than a year ago at this time, when different market conditions led to an 80-cent plummet in rates over a month-long span. Industry experts say that it may just be a matter of time before gas breaks through the four-dollar-a-gallon threshold again.
Triple-A’s daily polling had more moderate numbers in a week-over-week span, with the national average of $3.68 remaining unchanged, and the statewide mean of $3.91 just two cents more than last Friday.
