In Lansing today, Governor Rick Snyder signed new legislation to combat the illegal production of methamphetamine. The first bill prohibits the purchase or possession of any amount of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine for the production of methamphetamine. Another bill he signed prohibits a person from soliciting another person to purchase the chemicals. Soliciting another person to buy ephedrine or pseudoephedrine is also now a class D felony and a violation can lead to a maximum 10-year sentence.
Governor Snyder signed eight other bills today including enhancements on drunken driving and car theft penalties and the Trespass Liability Act that explains how a property owner may be liable for trespassers injured on their land.
