HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A motive of 1.25 million dollars in insurance money is apparently behind the death of a 38-year-old Park Township man this past winter.
That is what prosecutors claim as two persons go before Holland District Court Judge Bradley Knoll this morning in a preliminary hearing, charged with open murder and conspiracy. Authorities allege that Maryann Castorena, the former girlfriend of Jose Hernandez, and Anthony Delagarza plotted to kill the victim. Hernandez’ snow-covered body was found lying outside of his running car that was parked in the Amberwood Apartments complex on January 6th. It was determined that he had been bludgeoned to death the day earlier. The two accused had initially been charged with lying to detectives before enough evidence was gathered to bring about the murder and conspiracy counts.
Both remain held without bond in the Ottawa County Jail.
