UNDATED (WHTC) -- Ottawa Area Intermediate School District Superintendent Karen McPhee was given an Outstanding Communicator award by the Michigan School Public Relations Association. President of MSPR, Allison Kaufman said that there are specific requirements of the award recipient.
“The person who is nominated has to fit and it has to do with how they are using communications to help their staff and community better engage in their public schools,” Kaufman said.
Kaufman said that McPhee’s dedication to expanding and improving her district’s focus on communication through different programs for students and staff is what gave an advantage to winning the award. McPhee began working in the district as Communications Director before becoming superintendent. For the first time this award was given to two superintendents, David Sipka from Muskegon Area Intermediate District was chosen as well. The awards were presented at the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators Awards Luncheon on June 19..
