HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Officials of Hospice of Holland have given its 30-day notice of ceasing its on-site residential program. No new patients will be accepted at the Hospice House after this coming Monday, with a July 18th closing date scheduled. Hospice of Holland serves an average of 105 patients daily, and opened its 104th Avenue facility seven years ago.
In this video, Executive Director Torrey Husmann told Dan Spadafora on "WHTC in the Morning" on June 19, 2014 that changes brought on by the federal Affordable Care Act made the operational model of the Hospice House unsustainable. Services will still be provided in patients’ residences, hospitals and nursing homes.
