HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- Monday, June 23, the Allegan General Hospital is hosting a seminar to address the issue of human trafficking in West Michigan. Human Trafficking: A West Michigan Reality will have three speakers, one a victim specialist from the FBI, another a member of the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force and the third is founder of the Manasseh Project, Andy Soper. Soper said his presentation will focus on how to identify and assist a victim of human trafficking.
“Just like people would be trained on how to intervene on someone who has substance abuse issues or has experienced some sort of abuse or neglect, we want them also to have the tool in their toolbox to be able to respond to those who are being exploited,” Soper said.
There is no cost to attend the seminar, but an RSVP is required. To register, contact Mary Whiteford at 269-221-0101 or email her at email@example.com. The last day to do so is Wednesday June 18.
