HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - It won't be fixed completely, but the damaged US-31 bridge over Washington Avenue in Holland should be completely open by July 1.

That's the plan of Michigan Department of Transportation officials, who announced that the left lane of the southbound highway, along with the left lane of the northbound road below it, will be closed for up to two more weeks as temporary repairs are done to the span. Two steel beams were compromised when a truck's unlocked hydraulic lift smashed into them this past Tuesday, and replacing them could take up to a year due to availability issues.

Inspectors and engineers say that the bridge itself is still structurally sound, and the temporary repairs will allow traffic to safely go over and under the damaged area until a more permanent repair is completed.
