ZEELAND (WHTC) - A Zeeland ministry targeted toward people with special needs is expanding. Compassionate Heart Ministry is a nonprofit organization that provides social and recreational opportunities for teens and young adults with mild to moderate disabilities. It's been located in the City on a Hill ministry campus in the former Zeeland Hospital, but director Donna Bunce says the program has outgrown its space. The Zeeland Planning Commission Thursday approved a site plan for Compassionate Heart to build a 20,000-square-foot facility on Royal Park Drive. Bunce says about $1.4 million has been raised for the new center, toward a $2.4 million goal. The new center could be open next year.
