HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Motorists looking to get from Holland to Hamilton and vice versa will be inconvenienced for the next couple of days.
State Department of Transportation officials say it will be until Friday evening before the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 48th Street on the Tulip City’s South Side is reopened. Repairs to a six-inch, 200-pound gas line ruptured by construction workers yesterday morning was slated for completion today, but it will take three days to replace pavement that had buckled as a result of the incident. Strong winds that carried the natural gas away from the site quickly enabled officials to not call for any evacuations of local residents, and there was no loss of gas service to customers in the immediate area. No injuries were reported as a result of the apparent accident.
