Tigers, White Sox and Whitecaps All Fall, Cubs Win

UNDATED (WHTC) -- The Tigers fell to the Mariners, 3-2 on Saturday night and Drew Smyly fell to 2-and-4 after surrendering three runs off seven hits in four frames of work.  Miguel Cabrera hit his 10th home run of the season while Austin Jackson scored on a wild pitch for the Tigers.  The Tigers face the Mariners again today.  Broadcast time on 1450 WHTC is at 3:45 P.M.

Anthony Rizzo left the yard twice and drove in four runs to power the Cubs past Milwaukee 8-0 at Miller Park.  Jason Hammel improved to 6-and-3 with seven innings of shutout ball and striking out eight.  The two teams meet again this afternoon.

The Padres topped the White Sox on Saturday, 4-2.  Andre Rienzo lasted just three-and-a-third innings to fall to 4-and-2 with Dayan Viciedo recording the only RBI in the loss.  The Sox and Padres go at it again this afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field.


The West Michigan Whitecaps let a 5-0 lead slip away and watched former teammate Adolfo Reina club a walk-off homer in the 10th inning of an 8-6 loss to the Fort Wayne TinCaps at Parkview Field.  The Whitecaps continue a three-game road series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps at 3:05 p.m. this afternoon at Parkview Field.


The NHL's Western Conference finals wrap up today in a winner-take-all Game 7 from Chicago.  The Blackhawks were down three games to one and their comeback began with a double-overtime win at home in Game 5and continued in Game 6 when they edged the Kings, 4-3.  The final game takes place at the United Center this evening.


The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series continues today with the Dover FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks getting underway at 1:00.  Jeff Gordon currently leads the standings by 11 points over Matt Kenseth.
