HOLLAND (WHTC) -- America in Bloom judges, Jack Clasen and Linda Cromer are in Holland today and tomorrow to evaluate our city for the national contest. The pair was at Window on the Waterfront park this afternoon talking with a representative from outdoor discovery about project clarity. Clasen said that towns are assessed on four different areas for the contest.
“We look at the horticulture of a town, we look at the heritage preservation we look at the community involvement and the environmental awareness,” Clasen said.
Linda Cromer said that Holland is an ideal candidate for America in Bloom.
“A community like Holland is doing so many things right and you’re working so hard together to improve,” Cromer said.
“We think AIB fits right in with the goals you set for yourselves and the methodology you’re using to meet those goals,” Cromer said.
The judges will be off to more towns this week and results will be announced on October 4th at the AIB’s national symposium and awards event. For the last three years, the tulip city has been the champion in the 24-thousand to 50 thousand population category in the competition.
