GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - An apparently brazen attempt by two 20-year-old men to crack the same Grand Haven crib twice in a week for "high end" liquor in broad daylight failed yesterday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Detective Captain Mark Bennett, the suspects, one from Muskegon and one from suburban Detroit, had allegedly taken the expensive alcohol from the Meijer store off of US-31 last Saturday, so store security was on alert when they strolled back into the retailer and into that same aisle around 5 PM. The men fled on foot emptyhanded when the security officers arrived. About 350 dollars of booze was recovered and returned to the Muskegon store.
The unnamed suspects were awaiting arraignment as of 12 Noon today in Grand Haven District Court. The incident remains under investigation.
