Senator wants to rollback Michigan's fireworks law

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - State Senator Glenn Anderson wants to roll back Michigan’s fireworks laws to where they were in 2011.  That's when the governor signed legislation allowing the use of powerful fireworks on and around each of the country's ten federal holidays.  The laws also loosened the restrictions on the types of fireworks that may be sold in the state.

Senator Anderson's bill would mean that state residents could only legally buy relatively weak fireworks like sparklers. Anderson says the potential risks of making high powered fireworks legal are greater than the potential economic benefits.
