UNDATED (WHTC) - The American League defeated the National League in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game at Minnesota last night, 5-3. Among the Detroit-Chicago contingent: Miguel Cabrera had a two-run homer in the first inning for his only hit in three at-bats; Ian Kinsler struck out in his lone plate appearance; Max Scherzer was credited with the pitching victory, going one inning and allowing a hit while striking out two; Jose Abreu flied out in his lone plate appearance; Alexei Ramirez doubled, reached base on an error, scored one run and stole a base; Chris Sale allowed a run on a hit with a strikeout in one inning; Starlin Castro struck out in his lone plate appearance; and Anthony Rizzo did not play.

Regular-season action resumes on Friday evening. The Tigers host Cleveland in a game you can hear on 1450 WHTC, beginning at 6:40 PM; the Cubs travel to Arizona; and the White Sox are home to Houston.
