HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The weekly street performer series along 8th Street in downtown Holland resumes this evening. It’s the first such session since an unnamed skateboarder fell in front of a horse-drawn carriage last Thursday night, causing the animal to bolt from his driver’s control and eventually run loose for several blocks. The driver and a 69-year-old Ionia woman suffered minor injuries in the incident. Public Safety Director Matt Messer told Council members during last night’s work-study session that, after talking with the skateboarder and witnesses, no charges will be filed, even though skateboarding is illegal along 8th Street. The carriage service will not resume until later this month.
The series is celebrating its 10th anniversary this evening from 6:30 until 8:30.
