This morning, a body was pulled from the north side of the Grand River channel in Grand Haven. A dredging crew was working to move debris from the channel so that a freighter could make its way through when they found the body. Officers from the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol and the United States Coast Guard quickly arrived at the scene and worked together to retrieve the body. The body of the unidentified white male was taken by a sheriff’s marine patrol boat to the Coast Guard Station Grand Station in Grand Haven. Director of Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said that they are working to identify the man and an autopsy is planned determine circumstances of his death and how long the body was in the river.
