City Crews to Cut Ash Trees on 32nd St. this Week

HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) -- Expect to see some traffic congestion on the south side of Holland this week.  The Holland Dept. of Public Works will be working on 32nd St. and closing it off between Central and College Avenues to facilitate the removal of 45 Ash trees that are infested with the emerald ash borer.  The work will be done Tuesday through Thursday, between 8 A.M. and 4 P.M.  If you live within 10 to 15 miles of that area, your ash trees could be infected.  Experts say if you start treatment too early, i.e. before eggs are laid, you could be wasting your money.  The DNR reminds residents to not move firewood as it could have an EAB infestion.  If your tree sees a lot of action from woodpeckers, you should probably check for EAB.  More information can be found at http://emeraldashborer.info/michigan
