PARK TWP., MI, 10 AM 1/30/14 (WHTC) - Nobody took any chances at West Ottawa High School.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Mark Bennett, Dispatchers received word around 7:40 this morning that a possible explosive device was in the south building of the campus in Park Township. Staffers and on-campus deputies were joined by tactical units from the department, and the south building was evacuated, with students, teachers and staff moving to other structures.
Assisted by bomb squads and canine units from the Michigan State Police post in Rockford, a complete sweep uncovered no explosives or suspicious devices, and the south campus was subsequently reoccupied around the 12 Noon hour. No injuries have been reported, and some possible suspects have been identified, but any tips to the Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT; http://mosotips.com) are welcome.
