LANSING (WKZO) -- A new coalition was formed Monday to raise the minimum wage in Michigan.
The Raise Michigan Coalition is made up of labor, community and other groups seeking to put a wage increase on the November ballot. The current minimum wage in Michigan is seven-dollars-40 cents per hour. Lawmakers in Lansing currently have three different bills to consider that would increase that rate to between nine and ten-dollars per hour.
The group says they will also propose a wage increase for those workers who rely on tips for the majority of their income.
