HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A one-time intern is now the boss.
Dan Spadafora is the new Brand Manager/Morning Host of 1450 WHTC-AM. A Grand Valley State University gradiate with a Bachelor of Arts degree double major in Broadcasting and Journalism, he was most recently a Studio Host on WMAX-FM in Grand Rapids for GVSU Football on the Grand Valley Sports Network, and he did extensive newsroom and producing work for WOOD-AM/FM before returning to Midwest Communications, where he served as an intern during his undergraduate days in 2010. Spadafora was also the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Joliet Slammers, a professional baseball team in Joliet, Illinois.
Working with Brent Alan during this transitional first week on the job, as Alan moves over to other responsibilities at Midwest Communications involving WYVN-FM, Spadafora hopes to bring passion and dedication to his new duties. “Radio to me has always been more than simply a job,” he explained. “It is about providing a service to the community while also doing something I love. I want to show that not only is radio alive and well, but this station in town can be a station people can depend on for local news and information. Holland’s Hometown Station should be a news leader.”
Midwest Communications-Holland Market Manager Kevin Oswald said Spadafora is the right choice to lead WHTC to the next level, saying that "Dan is very committed to our community and to providing area residents with all of the information they need through broadcast, web, social media and mobile platforms."
