Michigan House to investigate utility ice storm response

Representative Aric Nesbitt (R-Lawton)

LANSING (WKZO) -- The state House Energy and Technology Committee will hold a hearing this week on the response to the ice storm by Consumers Energy, the Lansing Board of Water and Light and DTE Energy.

The BWL has come under fire for lengthy outages from the storm that hit just days before Christmas, with its chief J. Peter Lark admitting he went on vacation during that time.  Committee chairman Aric Nesbitt of Lawton says leaders of all three utilities will come before his committee as they look for answers on how to better respond to widespread outages in the future.

Over 600-thousand customers between the three were in the dark for several days.
