UNDATED (WHTC) - The resumption of classes along the Lakeshore continues to be delayed by Old Man Winter.
For a second straight day, all schools in the Holland/Zeeland area have cancelled classes on Tuesday due to weather conditions that include blowing and drifting of snow, along with wind chills well below zero. Officials of Hope College, Grand Valley State University and Davenport University have also joined with their colleagues in primary and secondary education in keeping classrooms dark, as they are aware of students having difficulties returning to campus for the resumption of school. Hope College won't start its winter semester until Thursday.
Weather conditions aren't expected to improve until tonight, which may impact a full slate of high school basketball games on tap along the Lakeshore this evening. Local schools are already scrambling to reschedule contests cancelled in December due to heavy snows last month, and any further postponements will stack up their fixtures' slate.
In addition, Ottawa County Administrator Al Vanderberg has closed county goverment offices and courtrooms for a second straight day due to the weather.
