HOLLAND, Mi (WHTC) - The Lakeshore is bracing for another belt to the solar plexus by Old Man Winter.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Allegan and Ottawa counties until 1 AM on Monday. Between six inches and a foot of fresh snow is predicted, with wind gusts of 25 to 35 MPH leading to blowing and drifing of this snow. Following this storm are bitterly cold temperatures for the first part of the work week, with highs in the single digits, and wind chills of as low as 30 below through Tuesday afternoon.
The American Red Cross urges everyone to stay warm but stay safe. Kelly Hudson says you should dress in several layers and don't forget the gloves and something to cover your head. Also, please don’t forget about outside pets. If they can’t come inside, make sure they have enough shelter to stay warm and can get to unfrozen water. Frozen pipes can be a cause of major damage to your home. To keep pipes from freezing, turn faucets to a trickle and open cabinet doors in your kitchen and bathrooms so that warm air can circulate. Avoid fires by using generators correctly and don’t leave space heaters or any other heat source unattended.
