Canadian officials look for U.S. commitmenton bridge

DETROIT (WKZO) -- The proposed International Trade Crossing bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario may be delayed if the federal government fails to make a commitment to fund the project.

Canadian officials say they are hopeful President Obama will include 250-million dollars to the project that is expected to cost 2.1-billion dollars.  Canada's consul general in Detroit, Roy Norton told the "Detroit News" if no financial commitment is made, the projected completion date of 2020 will be pushed back.

Canada has already pledged 630-million dollars over a two-year period to build the bridge that supporters claim is essential for job growth and increasing trade.
