LANSING (WKZO) -- If Detroit is to receive 350-million dollars from the state’s tobacco settlement money, Republicans in the Legislature have some strings to attach to the deal.

MIRSNews.com in Lansing reports one Republican source says an option under consideration would include a third party approving deals made between Mayor Mike Duggan and unions, creditors, former employees and more.  Governor Rick Snyder has also called for someone to monitor the money.

At least one Detroit Democratic state representative plans to vote against the financial lifeline for the city if the GOP attaches such rules.
