OTTAWA COUNTY, MI (WHTC) -- The Ottawa County Road Commission is reporting that they have spent more than twice as much on county road winter maintenance operations that last year. The amount spent this year is more than $3.4 million. The road commission has a contract with MDOT which allocated $1.3 million for winter maintenance of state roads in Ottawa County. That amount has already been exceeded by more than $400-thousand. The Commission will review the fiscal year 2014 budget in April. In order to balance the budget, it’s anticipated that current road improvement plans will be trimmed and could be cut with new priorities being set.
