UNDATED (WHTC) -- Icy roads contributed to minor injuries for an Ottawa County sheriff’s deputy Friday evening just before 11 P.M. Sergeant Matt Wilfong says the deputy stopped to help Shelly Ann Kleckner in the eastbound lanes of I-96 after her car slid off the road. The trooper has just gotten into his cruiser when 34-year-old David Allan Jenkins, lost control of his pickup truck, hitting the trooper’s cruiser and pushing it into the car being pulled out of the ditch. The trooper received minor head and leg injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and released. Jenkins was cited for basic speed, too fast for conditions.
