Other twin-bills include Unity Christian versus Holland Christian at the Holland Civic Center, Grand Haven at West Ottawa, Zeeland East at Reeths-Puffer and Zeeland West at Byron Center. Girls’ contests include Saugatuck at Lawrence, Freedom Christian versus Calvary at Harbor Lights Middle School, and Zion Christian at Black River.
Grand Valley State split a basketball doubleheader with Saginaw Valley State at the Fieldhouse Arena last night. Kristen Greene scored 17 points as the visiting Cardinals took the women’s opener, 65-47. Ricardo Carbajal’s 18 points helped the host Lakers capture the men’s nightcap, 77-69. GVSU’s teams are in Detroit to face Wayne State tomorrow afternoon.
In state major college basketball last night, Michigan State won at Purdue, 94-79, while Eastern Michigan fell in double overtime at Northern Illinois, 61-59. This evening, Detroit plays Wright State in Dayton and Oakland travels to Illinois-Chicago.
