MIDLAND (WKZO) -- More than a quarter of all cigarettes smoked in Michigan are smuggled into the state. The Mackinac Center for Public Policy has released its latest estimates on smuggling, finding Michigan ranks tenth nationally with 27.6-percent of all cigarettes coming into the state illegally in 2012. New York remains the worst state for cigarette smuggling, with nearly 57-percent of all smokes in the Empire State brought in illegally.
