ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WHTC) -- The no-contact advisory remains in effect for Bear Creek and downstream parts of the Rabbit River in Allegan County. A manure spill was found last Friday, February 14th, after concerned citizens called the Department of Environmental Quality, worried about the water quality near the creek. The leak came after the failure of an icy pipe and valve leading from a lagoon on the Schaendorf dairy farm. Cold temperatures will keep the bacteria from spreading but the full impact of the spill won’t be known until water testing is completed.
