DETROIT (WKZO) -- The recent corruption trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, his father and a contractor friend cost taxpayers over one-million dollars in legal fees. The disgraced ex-mayor was sentenced in October to 28 years in prison, while his father received 15 months behind bars. Kwame Kilpatrick was represented by five court-appointed lawyers, with James Thomas being paid the most at just under 430-thousand dollars.
