Poll: Education, roads top priorities for Michigan budget surplus

LANSING (WKZO) -- A new poll conducted by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA says a majority of Michigan residents would like the state to spend surplus budget money on education and repairing roads.  There were 600 people surveyed in the recent poll and just eleven-percent liked the idea of a tax cut.

Governor Rick Snyder and other legislators are proposing some tax relief with the estimated budget surplus of nearly one-billion dollars.  Republicans have suggested rolling back the state income tax to three-point-nine percent by 2017 and restoring the homestead property tax credit that ended in 2011.
