HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The field of hopefuls for Joe Haveman’s state House seat is growing.
The latest candidate for the GOP nomination in the August 5th primary is Daniela Garcia, who made her formal announcement this morning. The 34-year-old Holland woman may be entering her first political race, but she has been behind the scenes in Lansing for several years as a lobbyist on health care and educational policy. Garcia served as the Social Policy Advisor for Congressman Pete Hoekstra during his final two years in Washington; Hoekstra is endorsing her candidacy.
She joins Geoff Haveman and Bob Harmsen, who have already filed paperwork with the Michigan Secretary of State’s office, along with Jim Holtrop and Shawn Miller, as those aiming to replace Haveman, the House Appropriations Committee Chairman who is term-limited out of office at the end of the year.
