LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan Governor Rick Snyder unveiled his 2014-2015 budget in Lansing today and wants lawmakers to approve $103-million in tax relief for low and middle-income families.  Projections by budget officials say the state will have an estimated $971-million budget surplus over the next three years. The governor wants to extend the Homestead Property Tax Credit which will help an estimated 1.3 million taxpayers.

Snyder is also recommending a six-percent increase in funding for state universities, a three-percent increase for community colleges, and a two-point-eight percent hike for K-12 schools.
